Afro-Descendants in Argentina and Uruguay
A concentrated focus on Montevideo and Buenos Aires
We are: Nathalie Heredia Minthorne (Germany, USA, Uruguay), Victoria Gallandt (Germany), Roseanne Thomas (USA), Raphael VƔsquez (Germany, Nicaragua) and Wilmar Adrian Granados CƔrdenas (Colombia), students in the Masters of InterAmerican Studies Program at Bielefeld University in Germany. Our national origins, like our personal interests, are diverse. However, our mutual motivation to learn about the complexities of the Americas has joined us together, as InterAmerican Studies is an interdisciplinary program which allows us to address the American continents from multiple disciplinary perspectives.

Roseanne is originally from the United States, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Minor in Art Studies from North Carolina State University. Upon graduation she moved to Crete, where she earned her Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certification. She then taught for several years in South Korea and Australia, before moving to MedellĆn, Colombia, where her childhood interest in Latin American history and the Spanish language were renewed. Roseanne joined the InterAmerican Studies Program in order to pursue her passion for learning more about history and languages, while simultaneously exploring other areas of study within the context of the Americas in the interdisciplinary program.
