Why Is this Section Concentrated on Montevideo?

There are several reasons we chose to concentrate this section of the project on Montevideo. The main reason is because much of the reliable academic research and sources we have been able to use have themselves been focused on Montevideo. It is also because while there are other areas with high percentages of Afro-descendant populations in Uruguay, the numbers themselves are quite small in comparison to Montevideo. We do not want to negate the importance of these communities, however with limitations to our time and resources, we felt we could do the most justice to this subject by narrowing our research.
